ABOUT:

Gorgeous color and amazing chunky sparkle! The ever popular sapphire with chunky old mine cut halo. This one is from the Georgian era, early 1800s with a natural cabochon sapphire in silver collet rising up at the center, surrounded by a halo of ten chunky old mine cut diamonds. The piece is in 10k rosy gold with engraved shoulders and the ring face is topped in silver as was customary for the time to set the stones in a white metal.

The diamonds are in a closed back setting but still very bright and white with no muddy or rusty or dingy areas, it has a really lovely sparkle with beautiful coloring. A very fine example of a Georgian ring. Note that there are no cracks or fissures to the sapphire, just natural inclusions within the stone seen in bright sunlight.

The dealer I got this from in Europe told me she got it in France. It has an old hallmark outside the shank that says ET, with what looks like the French counterstrike inside, but no gold hallmarks. It didn't quite hold a 14k test so I am listing it as 10k to be safe.

Quite a lot of fun to wear as it really packs a punch.

Comes as pictured WITH an antique box. I don't usually include the boxes as they have value on their own but I thought this one deserved to be housed in a special casing.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6, the face is 18mm north to south tapering to 3mm at the back and the cluster is 15mm wide. It stands 7.5mm off the finger. It weighs 5.8 grams. Each diamond is about 3mm give or take, some quite chunky with high crowns, and the sapphire is 9x7mm. I am getting at least one full carat total weight in diamonds since there are 10 of them, just using estimations as I would not remove the stones.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. The sapphire has inclusions. It is very interesting as it has unique milky like inclusions that glow similar to a star sapphire but they don't reflect a star design. Typical antique diamonds, a nibble here or there seen only under magnification but no chips. They do have some inclusions as expected for the period, some icy or frosty, a few tiny carbon specks which are not eye visible A bit of wear to the collet around the sapphire but the stone does not move at all and is pinched tightly despite the tiny gap between the girdle edge seen here or there only under magnification. Fun one to wear and stack, with sturdy fabrication!

But as with all my estate pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item. I have additional photos/video besides those allowed here so feel free to request additional.

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
