GEORGIAN Antique Wide Cigar Band Peruzzi Old Mine Table Cut DIAMOND Black Enamel 18k Gold Comfort Fit Five Stone French Ring

A bold and beautiful stacker - this romantic wide band ring has a wonderful comfort fit interior with a ribbed exterior texture and an applied oval panel holding five mixed old cut diamonds - table cut, Peruzzi and old mine cut diamonds above a black enamel background. The piece has a wonderful moody sparkle, it's just that there was no sun when I took the video so it does not do it justice.

I purchased this in the French Riviera on my recent sourcing trip, it bears the French hallmark for 18k gold used only from 1819 to 1838 which ensures the age of the piece. It looks like a ding on the edge of the band in the pics but it is actually the hallmark strike : ).

Warm antique patina to the gold perfectly compliments the black enamel and moody sparkle of the old cut diamonds. The perfect stacker, this one feels delightful to slip on the finger with the inside of the shank curved/ bowed to wear more comfortably. The ribbed shank has 12 lines which is perhaps representative of love all 12 months of the year.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/2 - fits a bit more snug with the wide band.
The band is 8,7mm north south with the applied oval slightly larger at 10mm.
Weight: 3.5g.

The diamonds are 1.3 to 2.3mm measuring the exposed portion, they widen out an unknown amount in the cut down silver collets which envelop them.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The black enamel is uneven and looks like it may have been touched up with enamel paint. The oval appears mostly complete and fully black to the eye except for one spot that is somewhat tucked under the silver collets. So when you study it from the side you can see the gold and when you study the surface you can see it is uneven. The oval panel shifts slightly, but it is secure and held in place between the applied diamonds and the shank.

Typical antique diamonds, two have nicks, there are some faint natural inclusions and they read slightly gray from age to the close back setting. You tend to always look this way and a piece that is 200 years old. None of the stones are loose, the piece is quite sturdy. The edge of the shank is a bit blunt but with the curved comfort fit interior. The piece was fabricated with two pieces of gold and vacant space in between. When studying the inside of the shank there is a crease with a linear hole to the inside but it is not seen or felt while wearing and does not affect the stability of the piece. There are some shallow impressions to the back that appear like a gradual ripple.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
