GEORGIAN Era FRENCH Antique Black ENAMEL Regional Traditional Ring 18k Gold
GEORGIAN Era FRENCH Antique Black ENAMEL Regional Traditional Ring 18k Gold
ABOUT:
This one is so unique and striking! Wonderful French traditional antique regional signet ring from the early 1800s with black enamel outlining an oval on the rectangular ring face, and linear geometric design on the shoulders. The gold has a beautiful buttery color with the exceptional black contrast. I love this one and have not seen one like it.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the early 1800s Georgian era. It wears as a wide band with beautiful geometric details, these pieces are becoming more and more scarce, as this tradition of rings fell out of use in the early 1900s. Regional, or folk jewelry, is defined by a particular style confined to a particular region.
HALLMARKS:
Stamped with the French hallmark which was used on 18k gold between 1819 and 1838 which confirms the age of the ring. It also has a goldsmith stamp.
Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 6. The ring face is 8mm top to bottom rectangle is 11 mm wide. It weighs 1.8 grams.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Loss to the enamel especially on the back where it would come into contact with surfaces, the loss does creep up one side of one shoulder but the ring face especially looks great considering age of 200 years. Additional Surface wear commensurate with age to the gold. Sweet piece from a very special era. But due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item.
I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
