ABOUT:
Beautiful and sturdy floral wax seal fob pendant in buttery antique 18k gold. This French piece is from the Georgian era, hallmarked with their stamp used in the early 1800s. I jut love the textbook Georgian 3D, deeply embossed floral design around all sides. The place I purchased it from identified the stone as a green agate. I am not familiar but it seems right, it is cold to the touch (not plastic or resin) and has a beautiful deep forest green color.
This could be worn as a chunky pendant, on a watch chain or chatelaine set - perfect to add to a neckmess or neckstack with a wonderful quality and sturdy hand feel weighing 8 grams. With all its design elements it makes a great conversation piece.
Chain is not included but it looks beautiful on a daintier chain or is substantial enough to be the centerpiece for a watch chain necklace.
MEASUREMENTS:
Weight of 8.75 grams. About 34mm tall to the top of the loop, the base is 15mm by 18mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
There is a hole to the gold in one corner. I thought it was some red wax residue recessed into the design but studying it under magnification I can see the loss to the gold. Maybe the wax is still from use or they used it to stabalize the area?
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
