ABOUT:

This is in my top 3 of pieces from my entire trip as it relates to my taste - French Georgian era ring with domed cobalt blue glass top with an applied silver figural urn or flower face set with rose cut diamonds. And it's got the wonderful ring butt / booty (as we say in the trade) with engraved floral details. The piece is in 18k yellow gold with the applied details in silver as was customary to set diamonds in a white metal. As an additional contrasting element, there is also a silver tooled border around the base of the ring face, while the glass stone is set in a gold bezel. Angular lined details at each shoulder. Beautiful patina, coloring and sparkle with the striking domed setting. Beautiful stacker or alone. Plenty of patina to the silver and the gold from age.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8 1/2. The piece weighs a little over 4 grams. The ring face is 16x12mm and domes 7.5mm off the finger. The largest rose cut is about 3mm.

HALLMARKS:
French hallmarks for 18k gold and silver.

Antique box is not included.

CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds read slightly warm from age to the closed back, but the blue glass is in very nice condition with a wonderful sheen and color. No chips or cracks but what looks like a tiny crazing line on one side seen only under magnification, it may have just been fabricated that way. There are seams inside each shoulder and one has a tiny crease inside but it is still stable. Quite a sturdy and wearable piece considering age of over 200 years. No loose stones. Some of the smaller rose cuts appear like rough cut shards and again may have always been that way as they are small and just meant to add a glint of sparkle. But due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item. These need more careful wear as the closed / foiled settings should not get wet as the moisture causes deterioration to the foil and discoloration.
