ABOUT:
Beautiful moody sparkle to this floral or four leaf clover reminiscent ring. Crafted in 18k gold, the ring face is topped in silver as was customary to set the rose cut diamonds. The rose cuts appear teardrop in shape due to the form of the bezels. The backing behind the diamonds is foiled, another common fabrication for the Georgian period. This one looks very old indeed with deterioration to the foil causing a darkening behind the stones so they read gray while wearing, but with a wonderful sparkle..
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
HALLMARKS:
No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. It is hand engraved "123" inside the shank.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7. Ring face is 11mm north south and 4.5mm off the finger. It weighs 2grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Evidence of a sizing. Some dings to the closed back of the ring face and what looks like a few reinforcements in antiquity, not visible while wearing. Darkening from rust and deterioration to the foil especially visible in the sun.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still wearable. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
