One of my favorites, but alas... too many favorites, not enough fingers. : )
This beautiful French antique ring has such a great antique look with foiled rose cut diamond front and center in a silver collet setting with black enamel background. The diamond is a nice size measuring around 6mm. Beautiful acanthus leaf decorations at each shoulder. The foil is still beautiful, slight warmth from age but no dark or dingy spots.
May have been a mourning piece. The gold is hollow inside so it has a lighter hand feel but a chunky appearance.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5, ring face is about 12mm by 9mm. Weight is 2.4 grams. The exact diamond measurements (and therefore exact carat weight) are unknown as I would not remove it from the setting but it widens out in the collet so is likely somewhere around 6x5mm with a nice depth to the domed top. A 6mm rose cut is typically .5 to .7 carat total weight. Like most rose cuts they have a lower carat weight but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. A round modern brilliant diamond with 1 carat total weight has a diameter of around 6.5mm for comparison's sake and to give you an idea of scale.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Because of the hollow gold fabrication there are some ripples, creases, impressions and some areas of solder. The shoulders have a bit of a rippled appearance and a visible seam but the acanthus leaf work is beautiful. Originally the north and south edges on the finger had a design flourish, but one side is pressed in towards the ring face compared to the other side which curves out. Typical antique diamond with some natural inclusions, two needle like which can sometimes catch the light in direct sun. Often times these are quite dark and dingy from age and deterioration to the foil back but this one has a nice light reflection and just a slight warmth. A bit of build up in the corners of the enamel but you should avoid getting these wet with the foil back. Antique patina. Still a fantastic, scarce and eye catching piece.
But - Please note due to age, like all my antique pieces, this piece is not in mint condition.
