ABOUT:
Special French Victorian era antique watch fob seal pendant. This piece has many elements to add interest and uniqueness, it is lovely fantastic to look at.
This dainty piece is a Paris find in 18k gold and silver with the figural dog (a greyhound?) seated on the seal. The base is with a carnelian for use as a wax seal but it has never been engraved.
In Victorian times the dog represented loyalty and faithfulness.
Makes a great pendant - perfect to add to a neckmess or neckstack with a wonderful quality. With all its design elements it makes a great conversation piece.
French hallmarks for 18k and silver. The loop, collar and platform the dog sits on is gold. The body of the dog is silver.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Weight is 4.5grams. 23mm from base of the seal to the top of the head. The carnelian is about 13x16mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Some wear to the silver dog but still very sharp legible design. No damage to the carnelian.
But Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
