ABOUT:

The ever popular antique French 18k gold halo or bullseye ring. The ring face is set with 9 rose cut diamonds for sparkle which are surrounded by vibrant halo of carre/ square cut rubies that are channel set in a circle around the center. The piece has wonderful color and sparkle. The rubies are synthetic, a very popular choice for the period. The gold is a lovely rich antique 18k gold. Small size, would be a great pinky ring.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 4 1/2 - best to discuss sizing options with your local jeweler who would be doing the work, as opinions vary when working on antiques.
Ring face: 13mm north south, the diamonds are about 1.8 to 2.5mm each.
Weight: 2.7g.

CONDITION NOTES:

There are some gaps between the diamonds and the setting, some the result of nicks and nibbles to the edges of the rough cut rose cuts. But some of this appears to just be the freeform shape of the diamonds not fitting the circular openings, as one of the stones for example, has perfectly polished edges, but edges but just doesn't fill the circular space since the stone was cut more rectangular. It's not glaring and the ring face has a nice texture and old cut sparkle. Some frosty spots from natural inclusions and rough / unpolished edges. Some build up behind the rubies because they are hard to get at to clean. None of the stones move, but I always recommend gentler wear on 100 year old pieces with many small stones (the same way I would on machine made vintage pieces that often lose more stones than antiques in my experience). Evidence of a sizing to the back. Inside of the ring face is a bit blunt against the finger when sliding off and on.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
