HEAVY French Antique 10.4g 18k Gold Rose Cut DIAMOND Domed Gypsy Unisex Woman or Man Ring

A sturdy and well loved gypsy ring that glows with its over 10 grams weight in 18k gold. Complete with nicely domed rose cut diamond sparkling bright in a platinum bezel. I wish I knew the stories this piece could tell. Engraving remain around the domed face and at each shoulder, with the patterns softening with time and age. Most of these rose cut gypsies are closed back but this one is open back set into the very thick gold ring face which is not hallowed out at the shoulders to lighten the weight, so it has a very sturdy hand feel.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/2. The ring weighs 10.4grams. The center diamond is about 4.5mm with a nicely domed depth for a rose cut (compared to many which are very thinly sliced discs.) Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. It is difficult to speculate on carat weight without removing them from the setting, which I would never do.
The ring face is 12.5mm north south and 5.8mm tall off the finger with the raised center stone.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical old cut diamonds with some very faint natural speck inclusions, only very very slightly eye visible if they catch the light. For an antique rose cut it has a very nice clarity and no damage. Wear to the gold as mentioned.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still wearable.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
