HEAVY French Antique .3 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Domed GYPSY Ring 9.5g 18k Gold Chunky

ABOUT:

Super sturdy, chunky and heavy domed gypsy ring with a .3 carat old mine cut diamond in a raised bezel. Thick gold to the domed ring face where the back inside behind the stone is the only opening to allow light to pass and the rest is solid and thick 18k gold. Sometimes we see the ring faces hollowed out to reduce weight and gold use but this one is quite sturdy, crafted in nearly 10 grams of buttery, glowing yellow gold. Note the diamond is imperfect. More condition notes below.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today.

HALLMARKS:
French hallmark for 18k gold.

Antique box in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 4 3/4. It weighs 9.5 grams. The diamond is about 4.3mm in diameter. It stands 5.5mm off the finger and is 10mm north south at the face tapering towards the back but remaining quite wide.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

I would have listed this for higher due to its heft and popular design but the diamond has a triangular frosty section on the surface from flakes / shallow shards of loss to the surface of the stone. It is still round and fills the bezel so it does not appear cracked or broken but it is a decent size pie shaped frosty area that dips below the bezel from damage to the stone, leaving the uneven / unpolished area that is eye visible. The bezel also has a crack there where the damage occurred. Selling it as is to someone who would enjoy it despite its imperfections or possibly use the fabulously heavy domed setting to set a new stone.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
