ABOUT:
Super sturdy domed gypsy ring with a .4 carat old mine cut diamond in an engraved openwork setting. Nice quality hand feel. The buttery glowing antique gold has been worn by time showing subtle linear and berry engraved details. It may have been originally designed with holly or ivy to designate attachment as a wedding ring. This would be a great candidate to be re-engraved as well to have some detail brought back if desired but it is a sturdy piece in original condition. Thick gold to the domed ring face where the back inside behind the stone is the only opening to allow light to pass and the shoulders are thick 18k gold. Sometimes we see the ring faces hollowed out to reduce weight and gold use but this one is quite sturdy, crafted in 8.5 grams of buttery, glowing yellow gold. Note the diamond is imperfect. More condition notes below.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

French hallmark for 18k gold.

Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 8.5 grams.
It is currently a size 7 3/4. The ring face 8mm north south. It is 4m.2m tall off the finger.

I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements but the diamond measures about 4.7mm for around .4 carat weight.

CONDITION NOTES:

I would have listed this for higher due to its heft but the diamond has a round frosty section on one edge from flakes and shards of loss to the edge facet of the stone. Sorrows sorrows but we see this sometimes on pieces of this age. It is still round and fills the bezel so it does not appear cracked or broken but it is an uneven / unpolished area that is eye visible. Selling it as is to someone who would enjoy it despite its imperfections. The diamond has near perfect clarity if not for the wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
