THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT ~
Type: Ring
Materials: 18k Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Silver
Size: 7 1/2
Era: Early 1900s

ABOUT:

A chunky wide band with leaf and scroll engravings leading to a large ornate face with center emerald surrounded by 14 rose cut diamonds in a closed back setting. Very sturdy hand feel to the wide gold band and the ring face is topped in silver to hold the diamonds in white metal as was customary for the time. A wonderful color, sparkle and antique patina.

A few abrasions under magnification and natural inclusions to the emerald but a lovely sheen and polish to the eye. Typical antique rose cuts with some natural inclusions, rough or frosty spots and slightly warm to gray hue from aging to the foil back but still a nice sparkle and a great antique look. Some patina and a bit of buildup since you can't submerge it with the closed back.

HALLMARKS:
It has a hallmark that I could not identify. It was sold to me from a reputable source in France as 18k and tested to confirm, but I do not know the origin of the piece.

Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Ring is currently about a size 7 1/2. Weighs over 9g. Ring face is 29x14mm and the shoulders are wide at 12mm tapering slightly but remaining wide and sturdy all the way around.
Emerald is 6mm oval and diamonds are each about 2mm give or take.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
