HEAVY Shimmering Floral Ball Rivet French Antique 50g 14k GOLD Solid Chunky Wide Book Chain Choker Collar Necklace 14" Victorian Etruscan

Mega French Victorian era Etruscan revival antique chain - this piece weighs 50 GRAMS (!) of buttery, glowing Solid 14k Gold. Talk about a wearable investment. With beautiful ball rivet details and intricate cannetille flowers appearing at each link, it has a wide presence around the neck. Really wonderful detail to each of the chain links. The hand feel is truly special.

This chain has an added little secret in that the center ball rivet is actually a loop allowing the wearer to hang a pendant from it if desired. It extends just slightly lower than the ball rivets and appears as a design element to be worn without a pendant, but just has that extra option if you'd like to add a show stopping pendant to it as well. The clasp at the back is invisible and nests into the design.

Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos. The necklace / chain is short!

As this piece is second hand antique, it was taken to a warranty / guarantee office in France to have the gold checked and tested and given a later, legally binding hallmark of the gold quantity. This is a legal requirement in France when second hand goods are sold, so we commonly see these test marks and later hallmarks on antique pieces due to this process. This one has a linear mark on the back of the clasp where gold was sliced away from the clasp to test, revealing the 14k solid rosier gold.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs a sturdy 50g. Stretched end to end it's 14 inches. The wide chain links are 16mm. The ball rivets are about 4mm thick / deep. Very sturdy quality hand feel.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The clasp is very sturdy. It has a wonderful patina. Considering age it is very sturdy and wearable. A bit of verdigris seen only under magnification in a few spots hidden between links towards the back of the piece near the clasp. The piece is solid gold but these small spots are from aging to the alloys over the last 150 years. We don’t find it often in higher purity gold pieces like 18k but as this piece is 14k there are various other alloys included in the formula that can age differently. Not visible while wearing and again the piece was tested by a gold guarantee office and hallmarked. The piece has very little wear. With additional wear the rosier hues of the gold fabrication will come out more and more. Some signs of it being worn from age, where there is a very slight / gradual curve but still very stable. Some surface wear but this is only seen if you study it up close due to the mirrored finish. To the eye and while wearing it as an amazing color and shine, like I said it truly glows. No dings or dents to any of the ball rivets, it is a sturdy piece. There are no dark or colored spots to the gold, it can just reflect its surroundings in some photos. Impactful worn alone but also layers well with other pieces.
