HEAVY Shimmering French Antique 34.1g 18k GOLD Solid Chunky Book Chain Watch Choker Necklace Wide 16" w/ Swivel Dog Clip

I am back from my inventory trips to Europe and selling an assortment of vintage to antique hand picked pieces which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

My favorite thing about this chain is the fact that it uses two different types of book chain links. Both are the same width but at the front of the necklace, the outside edges are oval and towards the back on each side, the links come to a diamond shaped / pointed end. Wonderful heft and shimmering glow to this French antique gold chain / necklace. This may have been a watch chain, it has a wonderful dog clip / swivel clasp that can be worn towards the front side or back.

This piece is crafted 18k solid gold, which has a rich warm patina with rosy highlights and a buttery glow. I just love the look of antique gold like this! And it is in really nice condition with no dings or bends or ripples, just surface wear and beautiful patina!

I purchased this in France. It has several hallmarks, on the dog clip, the loop and on a few of the chain links for 18k gold. So if you see what looks like a little spot or interruption on the links, that is actually a small hallmark stamp for French 18k. Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs a sturdy 34.1g. Stretched end to end it's 16 inches. The book chain links are 8.7mm to 9.5mm wide as the pointed ones are a fraction of a millimeter larger. The thickness / gauge of each link is about 2.7mm. Very sturdy quality hand feel.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Beautiful rich patina that has warmed the 18k gold - it has a beautiful glow. Some signs of it being worn from age, where there is a very slight / gradual curve, or a ripple here or there but still very stable. Some surface wear but this is only seen if you study it up close due to the mirrored finish. To the eye and while wearing it as an amazing color and shine, like I said it truly glows and the 18 plus grams of solid 18k gold make it a special piece indeed. Sturdy, wearable and interesting piece in the solid gold version. There are no dark or colored spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings. Impactful worn alone but also layers well with other pieces.
