ABOUT:
Victorian statement earrings, like something you would see royalty wearing in a period piece movie - Fantastic and very unique large French antique earrings with a 3D design. The body of the earrings are ornately scrolled and on the front are floral and leaf details set with pearls. Never seen any like these, I love them. They have some imperfections from age but they are still quite special.
They are fabricated with tricolored gold with rose gold petals and green gold leaves contrasting against the warm rosy and glowing yellow gold of the earring body.
Put on with ear wires that have an attached, pearl set gold circle leading down to the dangling ornate scrolled part and culminating with a dangling ball drop at the bottom.
French hallmarks for 14k gold on the back of the curved wires.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 50mm / 2 inches top to bottom from the ear wire to the bottom. The widest part us about 8mm and they are 17mm deep from front to back. Weight is 6.15 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. These are quite old. Some of the pearls appear to be newer and a few are recessed into the prongs while others are propped up but they appear complete and wear beautifully. One has some light colored solder on the front middle, below the leaves and inside the back not visible when wearing. One dangling ball rivet has a rope detail around it which is missing on the other so those two components are not an exact match, although when wearing on different sides of the head would not likely be super noticeable. Still, something to please look for in the photos. Some patina and build up but really not a lot of damage to the gold work which is hollow inside and made with repousse sheets of gold, so it is surprising to not see more dings and ripples actually. Super unique design looking for the right home to either convert back to night and day or supply a push back, but still very wearable and quite striking. As with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
