Large PEAR French Antique Georgian Victorian 1.5Ctw + Rose Cut DIAMOND Cluster Ring Halo 18k Gold Silver
Large PEAR French Antique Georgian Victorian 1.5Ctw + Rose Cut DIAMOND Cluster Ring Halo 18k Gold Silver
ABOUT:
This one is quite the bauble! Large and attention grabbing French antique rose cut diamond cluster ring in 18k yellow gold with the diamonds set in silver collets as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. I believe the shank is later while the ring face is likely Georgian / Napoleon era (in France). Exciting to see the diamonds are open backed so we don't have to worry about getting it wet and it is easier to clean.
The outside rose cuts vary in form, some oval, some triangular or oblong all surrounding the large and chunky pear shaped center.
Super eye catching and very sparkly - a fun piece to wear! Varying depths to the diamonds giving it a free form organic appearance with a moody sparkle from the chunky diamonds. The large center diamond has a particularly nice dome to it.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 8 1/4. Weighs 4.3 Grams. The large ring face is 17x14mm.
The piece is at least 1.5 carats total weight in diamonds with the center stone being over a carat. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone as Rose cut diamonds are more spready. It is difficult to speculate on carat weight without removing them from the setting, which I would never do.
The center diamond is about 8mm top to bottom by 7mm east west, the others are 2 to 3mm each.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. These are typical old rose cut diamonds, cut by hand in irregular shapes and sizes. The center diamond has a lovely warmth to the palest yellow hue when studied under lit magnification, as was often found in 100 year old diamonds. Varying warm to gray hues in the outlining diamonds as well, some of this attributed to how they reflect the light. The center stone has a skinny crescent moon shaped natural inclusion, very skinny like a waning crescent : ). It's actually a few natural inclusions but the moon shape is very eye visible as these catch the light. It is less evident in ambient light but still visible, and very visible in sunshine. Back then they didn't focus as much on these types of things as this was hand cut long before the Four C's was invented and when there were significantly less diamonds in circulation compared to the millions of machine cut stones fabricated today. The others have some natural icy looking inclusions but I don't see any glaring black carbon spots. Some nicks or a tiny frosty / unpolished area here and there from a shallow shard of loss, this is to the outside stones only, the large center stone has no chips. This is mostly seen under magnification when you really study it. All the stones appear complete to the eye. None of them move, but some wear to the collets to keep an eye on over time, as expected for age. Shank is a bit oval but doesn't affect how it wears. Very Fun piece to wear with a great sparkle.
But please note this is not a mint condition item. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Will be sent with additional insurance, expedited delivery and signature confirmation upon delivery at my cost.
