ABOUT:

LAST ONE!

Listing is for one piece - Beautiful antique French 18k gold front and silver posted button with a design of a dragon - a popular motif for the late 1800s to early 1900s period. These fantastical beasts were considered symbols of wealth and power, and worn as talismans for protection or amulets for good luck.

This listing is for one of the three smaller sized pieces.

The patina on these is “mwah” (chef’s kiss) delicious with warm recesses, a buttery glow and rosy highlights. The gold work is just beautiful to behold with crisp detail.

I bought these intending to covert them to charms but I decided to sell them as is in case someone wanted to build a parure / jewelry set - as they could be converted to matching earrings, charms or a ring and pendant depending on the buyers preference (to be converted by your local goldsmith). They currently have a butterfly hinged back that flips to insert as a button.

Price is for one piece.

HALLMARK:
These each have a French makers stamp and the combined French hallmark stamp for 18k gold and solid silver pieces, the stamps are located on the back post of each. Unique fabrication on these - the designed fronts and button backs are in 18k gold, with the posts and welds holding the parts together in solid silver, perhaps for strength? They are also stamped "MIXT" on the rim, I guess referring to the solid gold and silver fabrication.

Chain / bracelet and any props shown are not included. Some surface wear and patina, spots of discoloration etc but they are in original condition.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The face is 8.2mm square. It weighs 0.9g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. Wonderful patina and design, still very sturdy and wearable.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition and it is being sold As Is at this price point. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature : )

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
