ABOUT:
Ah the wonderful Victorians and their figural animal jewelry. And this is a fav of mine in that it is crafted in carved labradorite. This is one of my favorite stones with the wonderful iridescent blue glow. The antique ones don't come up very often and when they do they are almost always carved figural pieces.
No hallmarks but tests at 14k gold. It has a lot of warm original patina. A bit of build up around the eyes, maybe adhesive residue. Some natural crazing to the stone but no chips or cracks, this is how labradorite always looks. The face moves slightly from the backing but does not come free.
Antique box not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The face is 11x8.5mm and 9.5 mm deep from the nose to the button back. It weighs 1.3g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings.
