ABOUT:

Another of my most popular styles that I try to source whenever I can find one - an antique natural sapphire and old mine cut diamond halo ring. This French 1800s Victorian era antique piece is unique in that it is round. Most often my halo clusters are oval. The old cut natural sapphire at center has a fabulous blue color with greenish hues in direct light. The ten old mine cuts in the halo total around .6 carat total weight in antique diamonds. Nice size footprint on the finger and wonderful to wear as it has a low profile but a nice spread. The nice size sapphire is 6mm and shines at center, surrounded by a milgrain bezel.

I got this one in Paris. It has the antique hallmark used primarily in the 1800s for 18k gold which was discontinued completely in the very early 1900s.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The ring is a size 8, slightly over but does not reach 8 1/4. The piece weighs 3.3 grams.

Exact carat weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones from the setting but it is estimated around 0.6 carat total weight in diamonds. The ten diamonds in the halo each measure about 2.5mm each. The sapphire is about 6mm.

Stands 5mm off the finger, the ring face is 13.5mm in diameter.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The sapphire has a fabulous color and nice sheen and polish. Some facet abrasions, expected for apiece of this age, but they are only very slightly eye visible with normal wear. One edge of one area of the girdle is scuffed but it is somewhat hidden by the bezel as it nests right up against the area. I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights the abrasions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description. Natural linear silk / needle rutile inclusions create a chevron pattern within the sapphire. Under lit magnification they can catch the light and reflect out almost like a star sapphire but with just linear needles of glow instead of the starburst shape. This is not as apparent with normal wear in ambient light. It is a very beautiful natural stone. Typical antique diamonds with some other faint frosty speck inclusions, no dark carbon spots. Some read warm to frosty but the piece still has a lovely sparkle. You should be able to detect all this in the photos and videos as they are true to life. Some of the diamonds have a nick here or there and one has a shallow flake of loss leaving a frosty edge but they all appear complete and fill the bezels. Some move slightly with age appropriate wear to the bezels. Most of my buyers prefer gentler wear and original antique condition. Timeless piece - I love this one.

Shank is very sturdy. But Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
