ABOUT:

I have been wearing this ring a lot, all the elements just speak to my taste - I love beautifully engraved gold work, the shield shaped face, the pop of color to the natural pinkish red rubies and the bright and sparkly diamond with the gems rising out of the panel background in collet settings. It's just a beautiful stacker with a great antique look. Comfortable to wear with a rich antique patina and buttery glow serving as a backdrop to the stones. The diamond is slightly pear shaped.

French hallmark for 18k gold.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
The ring is a size 5 1/2 on my mandrel.

The center diamond is about 5.5x4.5mm and slightly pear shaped. The rubies are each about 3.5x2.5mm, one appears oval and the other slightly pear shaped.

The ring face is 10mm north south and stands 3.5mm off the finger.
The ring weight is a dainty 1.85 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

This old beauty has some signs of its age with gray solder under one edge of one ruby which presents as patina. The diamond has nibbles around the girdle and a tiny gap seen under magnification between the stone edge and the collet setting here and there. The stone appears slightly pear shaped but looks like it was custom cut to fit in the girdle. This was originally in a closed / foil back setting but the back has been removed allowing the diamond to clear, bright and white with a really nice fire and sparkle for an antique stone. Under magnification you can see two tiny nicks to a facet and two small creases along one outside edge near to wear the nibbled girdle is visible but the stone is stable. The nicks are not eye visible but the little creases can catch the light if you are looking for them. Hollow fabrication customary for the time where there is vacant space between the ring face and shoulders, so it is not a super heavy but it has held up well. One tiny pinhead hole to one corner from wear. Some shallow impressions or ripples, here or there as on side of the shank and the back of the shank but overall still wearable.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
