One of a Kind Antique LETTER A E Initial Single Earring Pendant 18k Gold & Solid Silver Victorian Monogram Engraved

I'm always on the hunt for good antique monogram or initial jewelry and this one is fabulous. Originally a pair of earrings that had two different letters (A or E & M or W - the other letter is listed separately) - I am selling individually as a single "A" (or it also kind of look like an "E" to me) earring or for use as a pendant.

I think these pieces were actually originally personalized buttons or perhaps large cuff links although they are quite large for the latter. Crafted in solid silver with ornate pierced engravings surrounding the letter, the large detailed area at the center is gold washed in rose gold vermeil.

The Victorian era pieces were then later converted to a pair of earrings with 18k yellow gold ear wires attached, welded to the top inside rim of each.

The ear wires are flexible or could be completely removed so I decided to sell them separately since the letters do not match. Of course the pair could still be purchased if desired.

My thinking with the gold ear wire is that while still being perfectly wearable as an earring, one could clip and try to bend the earwire to create a loop to wear the piece as a pendant. Your local jeweler could also remove the ear wire completely and affix a new loop in any size, style or location as desired. I just found them fun and versatile antique initial pieces.

French hallmarks for 18k gold on the ear wire, this piece was found in Paris.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.

Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how to wear.

MEASUREMENTS:

The disk is 24mm in diameter with 31mm height from the top of the earwire to the bottom. It weighs 5.5g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The ear wire is flexible but I recommend caution when bending it as it is just tacked on to the back and could come free with too much manipulation near the connection point. The rose gold vermeil is soft and subtle.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
