One of Kind DATED 1934 Art Deco 8.5mm DOUBLE Band 9g 23k GOLD 1/2 Carat Five Stone Diamond Ring Engraved

ABOUT:

This special piece is truly one of a kind. It was crafted combining two antique Art Deco era bands and connecting them with bezel set diamonds in between. Amazing coloring and study / quality hand feel to this rich and buttery, and very sparkly piece. This piece is in 23k gold (so almost 96% pure gold!) with five diamonds held between the two engraved bands. There is a rivet at the back to serve as a spacer and to stabalize the back side. Clearly a custom, one of kind piece taking the two bands and assembling them into one piece.

One is engraved "Bert - Maya - 19 - 15/12 - 34" - (For December 15, 1934 as the day comes before the month in European engravings and the year is split.). The other reads "Bert - 19 - 17/10 - 34 (for October 17, 1934). I'm not sure why the dates don't match, the engravings can be a bit difficult to decipher so I wish I knew the stories this piece could tell. But we can definitely confirm the date as the bands are also fully hallmarked for Sweden, with the date stamp 1934 and 23k. I just love the provenance of engraved pieces and when the hallmarks align as well.

The rich, buttery gold is beautiful to see and the fabrication is quite uncommon - The five uniform diamonds in a row make the design quite timeless and relevant to today.

The diamonds are nice and bright / sparkly. The place I purchased it from in Sweden graded them as around an H in color and VS in clarity. Certainly nothing eye visible. I don't see a single nick or flea bite to the diamonds even under magnification. Some surface wear and nicks to the beautiful gold notable due to the high shine glossy gold work. Sturdy, stackable, wearable, sparkly, buttery beautiful.

MEASUREMENTS:

The center of the open work double band reaches just under the size 8 line (usually when sizing side bands we size it to the middle so it should be around an 8). It is 8.5mm wide. It weighs 9 grams. The diamonds are a little over 3mm each so around (but probably over) half a carat total weight in diamonds / 0.5Tdw. I would not remove them from the piece for an exact measurement.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )

But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
