ABOUT:

I call these grid rings because I love all the little old cut diamonds set into the geometric rectangular face giving sparkle across the whole surface. This is a lovely one with slightly curved top, with rich antique gold work that is engraved on all the vertical edges leading up to the platform holding the diamonds. It has a sort of zig zag pie crust engraving to the north and south edges of the ring face that gives the piece interest from all angles. The piece is set with 15 old mine cut diamonds in slightly varying sizes totaling around .9 carat total weight in diamonds. Cobblestone appearance to the face, with some of the diamonds having higher crowns and triangular scissor cuts.

Ribbed shank, this piece has the most beautiful buttery glow with rosy warmth from patina to the antique gold. No hallmarks remain which is common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 5 3/4. It weighs a sturdy 5.4g. The ring face is 9.5mm by 14mm. It stands 6.5mm off the finger. Each diamond is 2 to 3mm in diameter. I would never remove them to get exact measurements but just using estimates by mm, I am getting around 0.9 carat total weight.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One area of loss to one scroll on one vertical edge seen when you flip it on its side, but still appears ornate and lovely. A worn prong here or there and slight wobble to some of the stones but it looks like it was reinforced with some small, tidy bead set prongs so all the stones are secure. Just something to keep an eye on over time, but this is what we often see on pieces of this age. Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions. No dark or carbon inclusions. Two have a nick but they are fairly small so I can't detect any of this with my eyes which are now in their 40s : ). Really beautiful sparkle and patina.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
