THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT ~

ABOUT:
Super ornate late Georgian to Victorian garnet ring with deep crimson red collet set garnet with foil back. Inside the ring face is a smooth closed back. The entirety of the shank is deeply embossed with crisply detailed swirl and shell designs.
No hallmarks remain but sold to me from a reputable dealer in Englannd as 15k and tested to confirm.
Wonderful texture and moody color for a ringstack.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/4, The ring face is 9.5mm north south. Weighs 2.6g so a lighter hand feel for size.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Hollow fabrication customary for the time where there is vacant space between the ring face, so it is not a super heavy one. There is some gold solder to the back from a sizing and at one weakened side that appears like patina. Some shallow impressions inside the shank, a ripple here or there. There is a seam at the edge of the shank near the ring face and some small creases / linear holes seen under magnification from wear to the thin gold work. The piece is still stable but needs gentler wear. Some nicks and abrasions to the garnet but overall a nice sheen and color so it wears beautifully.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
