ABOUT:
This is a personal collection release - I acquired this piece in Paris last year. Victorian scrolled shield shaped pendant crafted in 18k gold with black enamel background. At the center is a rose cut diamond in a closed back silver collet.
I think it may have been a pin at one time as the little loop appears later. No hallmarks remain but it is crafted in 18k gold yellow gold with some rosy highlights from age and patina.
Chain in photos is not included, it is a costume chain from Target that I use for staging : ). Please note it was overcast here in MN when I photographed it so the color will be even more vibrant in brighter light. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
22x13mm and the head stands 6mm deep. It weighs 1.3grams. The visible portion of the diamond is about 2.5mm, widening out an unknown amount in the closed collet.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The foil back of the diamond is still nice and bright and reflective, not muddy or deteriorating at all. Varying sheen to the black enamel with some wear but it appears complete and fully black to the eye. Some very shallow ripples and surface wear to the back.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
