One of my favorites, but alas... too many favorites, not enough fingers. : )
This beautiful French antique early Victorian ring has so much going for it from the haunting black enamel to the Pansy Floral design set with 8 rose cut diamonds for added sparkle.
A very fine piece. May have been a mourning piece or just a romantic token with the pansy design. The pansy flower was used in Victorian times as a symbol of remembrance. The name "pansy" is derived from the French word pensée, "thought". It universally meant "think of me," so it would also serve as a very thoughtful or romantic gift or memorial item.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8, ring face is about 15mm by 9mm. Weight is 3.9 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Two flakes of loss to the black enamel in the upper right corner reaching to the gold underneath, so you can see the unevenness in that area. There are nicks, scuffs and scratches elsewhere on the enamel as well but with the black color it is only visible when you study the surface in a reflection. Typical antique diamonds with some irregular facets, rough edges and warm to gray tints from them being set into a closed back setting that has aged. Still a fantastic, scarce and eye catching piece. So special!
But - Please note due to age, like all my antique pieces, this piece is not in mint condition.
