ABOUT:

Unique coloring to this pansy ring with green emeralds and white pearls creating the petals and a little ruby at the center. I love figural floral jewelry and especially pansies. Dates to the mid to early 1800s. Closed back setting with ornate open work shoulders.

No hallmarks remain, it was sold to me as 15k gold, I think British in origin. The pansy flower was used in Victorian times as a symbol of remembrance. The name "pansy" is derived from the French word pensée, "thought". It universally meant "think of me," so it would also serve as a very thoughtful or romantic gift or memorial item.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 3/4
The ring face is 10mm north south.
It weighs 1.6g with a dainty hand feel

CONDITION NOTES:

Shank is slightly out of round but not noticeable while wearing. This one is more delicate with the gold work being quite thin. The edges of the shank are blunt when you run your finger across them. Something to consider as that could be felt if worn too tightly on a finger. Both emeralds are chipped on one edge and the ruby has a few nicks. The stones still fill the bezels and complete the design with full color in the space of the setting, but you can see the loss to the stones if you study the side edges in a reflection to see the unevenness. Still a Very beautiful piece, I haven't seen one with this coloring before.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
