ABOUT:

This is a personal collection release that I had found in France.

I of course love pretty much all antique diamonds but the two pear shaped antique stones (actually one is almost more of a cushioned trillion cut) is what had me swooning. And these aren't the skinny disc rose cut diamonds (which I also still love) - These have a nice domed top for a great chunky cut and that wonderfully moody antique sparkle. We usually see antique rose cuts in round or oval, which are still treasured as all antique hand cut diamonds are - having a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern, machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time. But the teardrop shapes to the flanking stones make this piece even more uncommon.

I am also a big fan of antique enamel jewelry as it is pretty much a lost art these days - so antique pieces like these are certainly one of a kind. This French Georgian era piece is crafted in 18k gold with French hallmark. It has a marquise shaped ring face with foiled and closed back behind the diamonds allowing the unique rose cuts to really shine.

Important note about this piece is that there was wear to the enamel on both tips of the setting with loss to the gold down below making the black enamel halo incomplete. Because this piece was in my personal collection, I had filled it in to make the black halo complete to the eye. This is Not a permanent solution but I personally prefer doing this with my pieces to make it look more like it did originally. Note that this will wear off with time and the gold will show again as the piece is worn. I am mentioning this disclosure because I Never do this with pieces for resale, knowing that it would wear off and not wanting any of my buyers to feel deceived down the road, I always sell them as is with the enamel loss evident and leave the filling in to them if desired. But as I did not purchase this one for resale, it is currently / temporarily filled in because that is how I chose to wear it. I hope that makes sense! : ). There is still wear to the enamel at one shoulder point but it appears as you see in pics now.

Beautifully ornate shoulders with setting crafted in rich antique yellow gold with a warm patina.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 6 1/2
Ring face measurement: 17mm by 8mm.
Diamonds: Center diamond is almost 5mm east west and somewhat oval. The pears are 5x3.7mm give or take.
Weight: 4.2g

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The closed back has some build up behind the ring face and shoulders because it shouldn't get wet.
The diamonds are a moody gray with wonderful flashes of light from the foil back, but one pear has some dark discoloration to the foil around the top and bottom with fogginess in between from age to the backing. The others do not have any muddy or rusty areas so the foil is better than what we often see. That slight cloudiness to the backing on the one diamond is more eye visible than any dark muddiness so the diamonds are quite wonderful overall.
The pear shaped diamond has nicks to one edge pushed right up to the bezel, so it is not super evident and still appears pear shaped and fills the space, it's just a little unevenness at the girdle that can catch the light if you are looking for it. The center diamond has a natural inclusion right at the center that can catch the light, it carries up to surface leaving the tiniest crease seen only under magnification, but the inclusion itself is eye visible when it reflects the light. This is a natural characteristic of the stone, not damage, and all stones are completely stable. Please see the enamel notes mentioned above.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

But as with all my estate pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
