ABOUT:

This is a personal collection release.

Another super antique looking moody rose cut diamond ring with a cluster of 9 rose cuts totaling almost a carat in a warm, sparkly foil backed setting. Really chunky sparkle to the foil backed diamonds, the center especially domes up quite nicely like a little disco ball.

This is a French antique piece from the Georgian or older era in 18k rosy gold (tested). The ring face is topped in silver with silver collets holding the diamonds, a customary fabrication for the period. Plenty of antique patina. Jewels of this period were meant to sparkle in the low light of candlelight and fireside dinners. Such a romantic piece with that wonderful glow that we antique enthusiasts adore.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 7 1/4. The ring face is 12mm in diameter. The center rose cut is about 5mm with the 8 outlining around 2.5 to 3mm each. This is just the measurement of the visible portion of the diamonds, as they likely widen out some into the collets which curve up and over the girdles of the stones. So exact size and thereby carat weight is unknown as I would never deconstruct and remove them but just using online estimates by milimeter, I am getting around .95 carat total weight in diamonds.

The piece weighs 3.2 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

There is some discoloration and spotting to the foil back so the diamonds read a gray to warmer cognac in color. But they are a chunkier cut so they still provide quite a sparkle. Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions. Three of the outlining stones have a chip with shallow flake of loss to one edge but still appear complete to the eye. The center stone has a warm linear inclusion that carriers up to the surface leaving a crease there but the diamond cutter situated it along a side facet line so it is not as noticeable. These things are slightly eye visible if you are seeking them out but seen more under a loupe. There is some buildup in the recesses because you should avoid getting these wet with the closed back settings. There is a dark notch on the back of the shank likely from a sizing unless it is the remnants of an old hallmark but the shank is stable.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
