Rose & TABLE CUT Diamond Cluster Halo Ring Unique Antique Large 18k White Gold Chunky Sparkle
Rose & TABLE CUT Diamond Cluster Halo Ring Unique Antique Large 18k White Gold Chunky Sparkle
ABOUT:
I love halo cluster rings and this is a special one! It's unique in that the center diamond is a nice size 6mm rose cut while the halo alternates two harder to find table cut diamonds with four rose cuts, one at each side. All of these are set in a closed foil backed setting to increase the reflectivity and sparkle.
The result is a unique cluster with a geometric vibe especially to the halo where some stones are square / rectangular with the same shaped tables, and then the four rose cuts at 12 o'clock, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock are rounded and domed. The mix of cuts reflect the light differently while wearing which draws the eye in an interesting way. Also fun to see that two of the rose cuts are yellow - I love finding hues in my antique diamonds. She's a quirky babe for sure! The table cuts especially are likely older than the setting.
Found in Belgium, no hallmarks remain but sold to me from a reputable source as 18k white gold.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8 1/2
The ring face is 15mm diameter and 8mm tall off the finger.
The piece weighs 5.5 grams.
With the closed back settings, the stones' depths and thereby carat weight are unknown as I would never remove them. But to give you an idea of scale, the spready and domed center 6mm rose cut has the appearance of over a .8 carat brilliant cut diamond. The outlining four rose cuts are about 3.5mm (appearance of .65 carats total there) and the table cuts are each 2.3 to 2.5mm so those 8 add a diameter view of another .8 carats. So the ring faces up at around 2 1/4 carats if you were to compare it to a modern diamond cluster ring. Again the actual carat weight is less with the rose cuts having flat backs and the unknown depths but just giving you an idea of how this piece "wears."
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Most all of the table cuts have nicks, chips, to one edge / corner facet with a frosty appearance there due to shallow flakes of loss. None are cracked in half with major loss so they all fill the bezels but if you study the surfaces you can see the uneven and unpolished areas. The center rose cut has a really nice dome, no damage and a nice clarity, but there is understandably age to the foil back which has some cloudiness. Some deterioration to the foil in the halo as well with some warm spots and they tend to read grayish in the background. But still with an excellent reflectivity to the foil and a nice sparkle coming from the surfaces of all the stones. This special piece has a great texture and a wonderful antique look with the moody sparkle these antique diamonds are known for.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
