ABOUT:
An carre cut ruby set safety pin. The top of the pin has the small square rubies channel set along the top to give the piece a wonderful deep pinkish red color. Besides pins, I’ve also seen these incorporated into neck stacks as extenders and charm holders as seen in photos where I used one of my chains with dog clips to hook to each end. (Chain is not included, listing is for pin alone).

I was told when I purchased it that some of the rubies were synthetic, a popular choice of the period. They are all well matching to the eye.

French hallmark for 18k gold.

MEASUREMENTS:
The piece measures 58mm long by 11mm front to back to the pin back, with the little channel set top being 2.3mm wide. It weighs 4.1g

Still perfectly wearable. The pin back has tension in its spring.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Still perfectly wearable. The pin back has tension in its spring. There is a slight curve towards the back where it was hallmarked and a little seam of solder with a slightly different hue seen mostly under magnification, a weld that may have been a repair unless it was done in the fabrication or hallmarking? There are a few nicks to the rubies seen under magnification only, no large chips and no cracked or missing stones.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
