ABOUT:
A Beautiful French antique engagement ring set with a 1/2 carat Old European Cut diamond that is eye clean and bright white in color. The piece is crafted in 18k gold and topped in platinum at the ring face, shoulders and prongs. Adding to the charm of this piece is that the diamond prongs have been re-tipped making this beauty ready for daily wear. Neatly and tidily done, this one is ready to live another 100 years. There are three tiny diamonds at each shoulder for added sparkle.
French hallmarks on the shank for 18k gold with goldsmith stamp.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7. The diamond is about 4.8mm, around half a carat and stands 4.5mm off the finger in the platinum prongs. It weighs 1.7 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One of the tiny rose cut diamonds on one shoulder is a replacement single cut diamond inserted upside down to resemble closer to a rose cut, it is tiny but reflects the light slightly differently as the other rose cuts have a frostier appearance. This is not very eye noticeable as they are so small and add a nice glint of sparkle. The Old European Cut is excellent, with no chips or damage, completely eye clean and bright white in color with a lovely fire. So it is quite high on the color and clarity scale, especially for an antique stone since this was cut long before the "Four C's ratings" were invented for mathematically perfected machine cut stones.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
