STAR Antique 41 Rose & Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Cluster PENDANT 1.4 Carats 18k Gold Pin Brooch Victorian

ABOUT:

Wonderful antique Victorian diamond cluster pendant with central star shape featuring 41 old cut diamonds. Around the outline of the round base are petal shaped details with diamonds set in tiers for a completely encrusted sparkle representing star and flower designs.

This is a pendant with attached loop and jump ring but also has a pin back so it can be worn either way. Or the pin parts could easily be nipped off to keep it a pendant permanently. But I think it was always designed this way to be wearable as both. And it is in excellent condition having been gently worn.

The piece is crafted in 14k rose (pin back) and yellow gold and topped in silver as was customary for the period to set the diamonds in a white metal. At center is a chunky old mine cut diamond in a collet setting surrounded by a halo of eight additional collet set old mine cuts. Wonderful chunky cuts with amazing sparkle, the glitter factor is increased by the many rose cuts set around the entire outline of the piece and in the tips of all the stars.

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride and is quite impactful to wear dressed up or down.

No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 14k gold and tested to confirm.

Antique boxes, chains, props in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The reputable source I purchased it from measured it as 1.4 carats total weight in diamonds.

The largest center old mine cut diamond is over 4mm measuring the visible portion which widens out an unknown amount in the collet setting, around .25 carat. The eight additional old mine cut collet set diamonds are about 2.7mm each or so. The old mines have chunky cuts. The rest of the 32 diamonds are rose cuts - (the small accents in the star and all along the outside of the piece) measuring about 1mm each.

It measures 21mm top to bottom including the attached loop by 18mm east west and stands 9mm deep, not including the pin parts which protrude out the back. It weighs 5.1 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. But this one seems rarely worn. There may be a faint inclusion or a warm hue here or there under magnification, typical for antique diamonds but the old mine cuts are eye clean with no glaring issues even while studying them. Typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle.

Ready to be worn and enjoyed as either a pendant or brooch!
