STAR Onyx ? Pearl Oval French Antique Victorian Art Nouveau Earrings 18k Gold Solid Dangle Dormeuse

ABOUT:
Beautiful French antique 18k gold dangle earrings with black stones that are oval and inlaid with a gold star design set with a pearl. I believe they are onyx but may be black glass or French jet? I don't really have a test to determine.
Closed backed and crafted in 18k gold with an oval scalloped shape.

These earrings are called "dormeuse" in French which translates to "sleeper", meant to be dainty and small, comfortable enough to sleep in, used in olden times to keep the ear holes open overnight : ) Of course these days we don't recommend all night 24/7 wear on these antique pieces with intricate 100 year old gold hinges.

French hallmarks for 18k gold with antique patina. The hooked ear wires are inserted from the back of the ear and latch into the little loop atop the front of the earring.

Any boxes or props used for staging are not included. Please note the measurements. I always include them in each listing but people tend to miss them - I have to show zoom photos for detail which can make it hard to determine scale.

HALLMARKS:
The earrings are hallmarked with the French antique hallmark for 18k gold that was used in the 1800s.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Measuring 20mm from the top of the wire to the bottom, the dangle portion is 12mm wide. Weighs 2.7 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One earring back especially leans a bit to the side but I didn't want to risk snapping it by bending it back. It has a little solder reinforcement at the base where the ear wire connects to the back of the earring. This would not be noticeable while wearing. There is a little iridescence and some surface wear to the black stones when you catch the surface at some angles, but I couldn't quite capture it because the black soaks up the light on camera.

Some dark patina on the back which could be polished if desired, One of the black stones lists to one side but looks normal face on. Some build up around the star and surface wear. One pearl shows clear adhesive residue.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, small nicks. They also may have some build up and some imperfections and other age related wear, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still functioning and wearable. For pieces with more patina, this can always be cleaned up / polished by the buyer but most of my customers prefer original patina so I am selling them as is.

Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
