Unisex GYPSY Ring .65 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Heavy CHUNKY French Antique 7.5g 18k Gold Domed Wide Band

Very sturdy hand feel to this chunky domed band antique ring. The heavy band is sleek and buttery, in 18k gold holding a chunky .65 carat (2/3 carat) old mine cut diamond with a high crown that crops out of the ring face. It is set in a sturdy bezel for a substantial appearance on the finger and a great antique sparkle. For an antique diamond it has excellent clarity - it is eye clean.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

Partial French goldsmith stamp remains. No gold hallmark remains which is common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm. It has a nice, rich patina from age

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

I couldn't get an exact measurement because it has two ball rivets in gold soldered to the back inside of the shank. The purpose of these can be for sizing, or arthritic fingers, but also as may be the case with this ring – to provide weight and a hold at the base of the finger since the piece is top heavy, so it doesn't spin sideways while wearing. It can easily be removed by any jeweler, and especially if the buyer plans to have the piece sized. Using millimeter measurements I think it is around a size 9. It weighs a sturdy 7.5 grams. The diamond is 5.2mm with a nice high crown, around 0.65 carat.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamond with a slight warmth to it, which is quite lovely and sought after by many antique jewelry collectors. It does not veer into the yellow color scale to the eye while wearing but can have the palest yellow hue in warm direct sunlight. Very nice clarity, eye clean with nothing glaring even under strong magnification. No damage to the diamond and the bezel is quite sturdy so this one is ready for regular wear. Typical surface wear to the gold being an antique piece with expected age related wear.
