Victorian ANTIQUE Natural Pink RUBY 50 (!) Rose Cut DIAMOND 1 Carat Swirl Antique Ring 14k Rosy Gold

ABOUT:
Interesting form, beautiful color and sparkle to this antique ruby ring with little rose cut diamonds set into curled petals that angle and curve up the vertical edges of the ring face leading up to the center natural ruby. A great organic look with the varying sizes and shapes to the old antique rose cuts, giving it a moody appearance with excellent movement. And of course the most lovely sparkle with so many (fifty!) little rose cuts around all sides giving the ring interest from any angle. The diamonds are in a closed back setting and read a warm to gray with great ability to catch the light. The ruby is very interesting as it has inclusions that vary slightly in color and some areas that glow similar to a star ruby but they don't reflect a star design, rather just catch the light to reflect from within the stone.

The antique 14k gold has a lovely rosy antique patina, not the vibrant pink gold of modern jewelry. Adds a lovely pop of color to a ring stack, excellent glitter factor and the ruby with the beautiful color and glow from within.

HALLMARKS:
No gold hallmarks remain but sold to me as 14k by a reputable antique jewelry dealer.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2. It weighs 4.3 grams. The ruby is 7x6.5mm in diameter and domes almost 3.5mm tall, the rose cuts are small, from 1 to 2.5mm but with so many of them and just using online estimations it is upwards past a total carat weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
For the petals holding the diamonds, only two are set with a rose cut at the very top. The tips of the rest of the petals near to the ruby are all smaller circles and are vacant. I don't know if there were ever tiny diamonds set into those, or if they just created a circular design element for texture. With the two having stones, it is possible they all had a tiny rose cut chip at one time. Typical antique rose cut diamonds with some irregular cuts, frosty edges, a few nicks etc. what you would expect to see on a piece of this age. They also have a warm to gray coloring from the closed back. They are small and just meant to add a glint of sparkle. The ruby has some abrasions, a few nicks and some inclusions that carry up to the surface of the stone. Under magnification they almost look like tiny fissures but they are within the stone. The surface does have some uneven scratching, nicks and abrasions though.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
