ABOUT:

Timeless diamond cluster earrings with a great antique look. These French antique pieces are crafted in 18k gold and topped in silver, hallmarked on the posts for both. With sturdy push backs, the open back settings are nice to find with rose cuts in that there is no foil back to discolor over time.

A wonderful moody sparkle with the patina of the silver tops contrasting with the rough cut diamonds. These were meant to be worn in candlelight and fireside settings.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

10.4mm in diameter each. The diamonds are largest at center, measuring 3.7mm each. The halo of diamonds surrounding each are about 2.5mm. Depths vary and exact carat weight of the rose cuts is unknown. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. Rose cut diamonds are typically quite spready and these are thinly cut. But if you were to compare the diameters to brilliant cut diamonds, these earrings face up to appear as a .7 carat cluster each - 1.4 carats total. Again their actual carat weight is less, but this would be the measurement estimate if the stones were modern cut at these diameters.

The pair weigh 3 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. Typical antique rose cut diamonds that were cut by hand with irregular shapes and natural inclusions but they have a nice moody sparkle with all 18 of them catching the light. They have nicks, rough edges, irregular and frosty and nibbled sides, they may have always just been cut that way since they were cut by hand. Some patina and verdigris to the silver tops. Still nicely shaped and wearable. There is wear to the prongs and diamonds but earrings are by nature gently worn. Still for 100 year old pieces, they are not meant for 24/7 wear. The push backs are in 14k gold and are a later addition but function perfectly on the thicker gauge posts. But as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
