I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

Beautiful French vintage to antique stud earrings in 18k gold. Each one holds a transitional cut diamond in an elegant minimalist prong setting. Lovely buttery gold patina. Each diamond is about 3.5mm, for around 0.2 carat each / 0.4 carat total weight. They are prong set in an illusion setting to make the diamonds appear larger.

The diamonds are transitional cut. Each transitional cut diamond in existence is fairly unique, as the cutters worked to achieve the best possible light performance and brilliance for each stone. As such, the cuts were not based on the specific criteria of machine cut diamonds today, rather based on each individual stone. This type of cut, also referred to as "Early American Cut" results in a diamond that is slightly more antique in appearance, while still retaining the brightness and fire of a modern brilliant, as they were the first round diamonds of their kind featuring symmetry never before seen to that point. The transitional cut method began in the 1920s, so named as a transition from the Old European Cut. This method was used a relatively short time until the 1940s when the modern brilliant cut, with the mathematically perfected proportions that we see today (and its "Four C's") was developed and then took the place of these transitional cuts. The earrings date to the Art Deco period (1919 to 1939) to mid century.

These have the Alpa push button push backs that have little spring loaded panels on each side of the push backs to secure the earrings.

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

The push backs and posts of the earrings are stamped 750, the numerical hallmarking system for 18k used in Europe.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

3.5mm for each stone, The settings are 6.5mm each in the pronged illusion setting. I would not remove the stones but around 0.4 carat total weight in diamonds for the two (0.2 carat each).
The pair weigh 2.6 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

No chips, nibbles or nicks. And no inclusions that I could detect even under magnification so the diamonds are eye clean.

The prongs are worn as we commonly find on pieces of this age, so this pair needs gentler wear. (Earrings by nature usually are gently worn.) Enough remain to hold the diamonds securely but something to always keep an eye on with antique jewelry in original condition, of course re-enforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler if more regular wear is desired. (You'd want to find someone with a laser to re-tip the prongs.)

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
