ABOUT:
Fabulous color to this three stone vintage to antique ring. It was sold to me as a synthetic emerald but it actually tests higher on the hardness scale in the spinel range. The emerald cut rectangular stone is vibrant and quite clear with the most wonderful true green hue. It is set east to west the long way with a chunky old mine cut diamond on each side.
French hallmark for 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp. I'm not sure when it was made. The old mine cut diamonds could indicate early 1900s but it doesn't show much evidence of age and the design doesn't look super old.
It's a fun one with a timeless design though, great alone or to add color to a stack.
MEASUREMENTS:
The spinel is about 8x6mm. The two diamonds are about 2.8mm each and measure about .1 carat each.
Size 7 1/4 - the ring face is 6.4mm north to south, 4.2mm tall off the finger, and the three stones are 16mm east west. It weighs 2.9grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The spinel moves slightly but plenty of prongs left. Typical antique diamonds with a slight warmth and some natural inclusions seen under magnification. One faint cloudy spot within the stone which is an inclusion seen under lit magnification. Exceptional sheen and polish to the stone with no major eye visible abrasions, no chips or deep nicks.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
