I try to acquire as many of these French Belle Epoque garland rings as I can find because they are so ornate and popular, they tend to fly. This is one of the finest I have had over the years, certainly one of a kind with a larger scale ring face, crisp laurel leaf design and the added detail of chiseled leaves on each of the forked shoulders. I get a lot of requests to source these, too many to keep track of and I've never had one like this.

Found in Paris, the vibrant pink ruby absolutely pops, surrounded by the halo of buttery gold designed with laurel leaves and a forget me not and rose flower paired at both the top and bottom. Very striking piece with the large ruby offered in better than most condition.

Due to the vibrant color and perfect clarity, I believe the ruby is synthetic and am selling it as such. It does test as a ruby, same properties, and is not glass. This was a very popular choice for the period so again being sold as synthetic with no claims otherwise.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.

HALLMARKS:
French hallmarks for 18k gold. It has a blowing, buttery yellow gold patina with rosy highlights to the raised leaves on the shank, where the recesses again match the buttery glow. Special fabrication.

MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 6 3/4. It weighs a very sturdy 8.35 grams - this one is significantly more substantial than any I have had. Ring face is 20mm north to south, also larger than the few I have had previously over the years. The ruby is about 12x8mm.

CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition, especially considering age. Surface wear and scratches but the stone is in better than most condition - it has a beautiful color, shine and polish with no chips or bad abrasions. Just a few tiny nicks seen mostly under magnification. Very legible design with crisp detail but it is an antique So of course due to age - Please note this piece is not in mint condition. I have never seen one with the leaves at the shoulders, I cannot say for sure if this was a later addition. They do appear applied at the shoulders. There are tool marks on the inside but no glaring evidence of it being altered so it may just have been a custom piece but was clearly always a ring. The leaves are a rosier patina than the ring face but the chiseled area in the background of the leaves matches the buttery yellow.
