ABOUT:

A gorgeous .7 carat old mine cut diamond solitaire in a tall pronged setting. Perfect for an engagement, or to add antique sparkle as a stacker. The long prongs hold the antique stone towards the wearer and suspends it to catch the light and view from all sides. The ring face almost serves as an illusion setting where it is larger below the diamond, making it appear larger.

With prongs in good shape making this beauty ready to wear for engagement or as a gorgeous stacker.

I purchased this from a friend / partner of mine in Belgium. No hallmarks remain and there is evidence of a sizing at the back but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. The shank has a rosy hue.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 7, slightly over.
The diamond is about 6mm, cushion cut. I wouldn't remove it from the setting but it is around .7 carat.
The piece weighs 1.8 grams. It stands 5.9mm off the finger. The ring face is 7.7mm north south at the wider area below the diamond.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

A slight warmth typical for antique diamonds and a feather inclusion that has a slight gray to it at one edge seen under magnification, but is eye visible. Also some faint, small speck natural inclusions that are very slightly eye visible and seen more under magnification. It has the correct frosted girdle (which verifies the age of the stone, cut before modern methods) but the girdle is quite thick on this one, becoming its own facet reflecting through the stone like the other facets do. This adds to carat weight but I noticed especially under magnification that it can reflect within the stone so if you notice some frosty views in photos, it isn't inclusions throughout the stone but the unpolished girdle reflecting around. Just the typical eccentricities we see in antique diamonds that were cut in much lesser supply long before the Four C's and mathematically perfected machine cutting was invented. These things were taken into account in the pricing. It still has a lovely sparkle and a nice footprint on the finger, fun to wear and stack.

The prongs are sturdy - it is ready for frequent wear with the stone secure. Edge of the shank is a bit blunt and slightly thin from age and wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
