ABOUT:

Beautiful color, sparkle and texture to this antique panel / lozenge ring in 18k gold with rectangular ring face. It is set with 10 old mine cut diamonds totaling around 1 carat in the center and then surrounded by a gorgeous halo of custom cut, channel set rubies. (I am claiming the rubies as synthetic, a popular choice for the period.)

Custom cut square / carre and trapezoid shapes perfectly nested into the halo provide the gorgeous pinkish red pop of color. The 10 chunky old mine cut diamonds give a wonderful chunky antique sparkle and texture to the center. Adding to that are four little rose cut diamond "spacers" or gemset prongs to fill in the setting and provide that completely encrusted ring face. An additional rose cut is added at each shoulder for a glint of sparkle.

Ornate openwork cutouts to the underside of the ring face hold up the stones slightly and give the piece beauty from all angles.

Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold with partial goldsmith stamp.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6, slightly snug, the ring face is 17mm north to south by 10mm and 4.3mm tall of the finger. It weighs 3.5 grams.

The 10 old mine cut diamonds are each about 2.8mm give or take, with four little rose cut spacers and an additional rose cut at each shoulder. Estimated total carat weight of over 1 carat, I would not remove them from the setting for exact measurements.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some tool marks on the vertical edge of the back of the shank, making it a bit rough when you run your finger across it, and the inside edges of the shank are a bit blunt, but this is not noticeable while wearing and I did not find it uncomfortable to wear. Typical antique diamonds with some faint frosty natural inclusions, no dark or glaring carbon spots. Under magnification I can see some nicks or a natural inclusions carrying up to the surface leaving a tiny crease to three of the stones but this is not visible with the naked eye. One stone has a triangular flake of loss to one of the corner crown facets leaving a frosty unpolished area. This is slightly eye visible if you are seeking it out, but all the stones appear complete and fill the setting with no loss to any of the girdle / outside edges affecting their shapes.

The rubies are immaculate with sheen and polish and no damage. The setting looks good and nothing moves at all but I always recommend gentler wear on my 100 year old pieces with multiple stones and the little bead prongs.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
