ABOUT:
An antique ring with the most wonderful "crusty" sparkle from the one full carat of pave, old cut diamonds encrusting the ring face. Circular shape with all over sparkle, but still low profile and comfortable to wear. The diamonds are a mix of old mine and old mined single cuts. Propped up above an openwork scalloped gallery.
Would be a rad pinky ring and also interesting in a stack.
Found in France but no purity marks remain which is common for French pieces. There is an old serial number stamped on the inside as we sometimes see. The piece is crafted in 18k yellow gold and topped in platinum or white gold. ( I don't scratch test ring face tops for fear of damage.)
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 4 1/2
The diamonds measure 1.8 to 2.8mm each. I count 22 of them. I don't remove the stones for exact measurements and the depths vary so exact carat weight is unknown but it is at least one full carat in antique diamonds.
The piece weighs 2.5 grams. The ring face is 11mm in diameter. It stands 3.8mm off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds, this one with very very slight warmth but overall faces up bright, sparkly and well matching. Also typical with faint natural inclusions. No dark or glaring carbon spots, nothing majorly eye visible and no damage. Two stones on one side appear frosty overall. Some of this is from inclusions but some of it is also a bit of build up in the hard to reach openings tucked behind.
Please also note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
