ABOUT:

I purchased several stackable diamond bands on my last inventory trip to Europe and this one is probably my favorite due to the gorgeous warm hue of the diamonds. Under lit magnification one of the diamonds has an almost peachy pink blush - so lovely! I try to acquire as many diamond bands as I can because they are so versatile and wearable that they are always very popular.

In Antique 18k gold with linear detailed gallery. And the prongs are excellent making this antique beauty ready for regular wear! Those five stones aren't going anywhere!

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

HALLMARKS:
Found in England with their hallmark for Birmingham, 18k gold, date 1897.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 6 1/2. It weighs 3.1 grams.
The center diamond is 4.3mm, a chunky cut and about .4 carat alone. The flanking two stones are 3.7mm each and the diamonds on each end are about 2.7mm.

Exact carat weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones from the antique center but estimated total weight of around 1 carat.

Stands 4mm off the finger, 5.6mm north to south and 16mm east west for all five diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The largest stone has a small / faint notch in the girdle, a bit deeper than the typical nibbles but still appears round and complete, slightly eye visible if you are looking for it. Typical antique diamonds that have some faint natural inclusions. The center diamond has a warm light brown silk inclusion near that same area of the girdle, slightly eye visible. The flanking diamonds - one has some crystal inclusions and an indented natural inclusion on one edge facet - GIA defines this as a dent that occurs under the surface of a diamond as a result of the diamond cutter's decision not to polish it off, because doing so could end up harming the diamond so the cutters would work around it. The other flanking diamond also has one but it is such a tiny speck or interruption to the facet that it is only seen under strong magnification. The smallest end stones again faint natural inclusions, but nothing glaring.

As mentioned, the stones display a gorgeous warmth. It is actually widely accepted by collectors (like me!) that the warm color of an old cut diamond is part of its appeal. Most of the rough diamonds at that time actually came from mines that produced warmer-colored diamonds so this is typical for old cuts. One end stone reads slightly whiter, the others warm to slight blush. The hues vary based on lighting conditions but always a noticeable and very appealing warmth. I showed it in photos next to a whiter five stone for contrast.

Shank is sturdy and with excellent prongs, this five stone is ready for daily wear. But Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
