ABOUT:
Ever sought after classic antique old mine cut diamond dangle earrings! These are so great! The hand cut antique diamonds total 1.3 carat and are each exceptionally bright in color and quite fiery! Really lively stones considering we often find the antique diamonds to be a bit more quirky, having been cut in such a limited supply.
Each are held in a simple 4 prong setting that is attached by a loop to the ear wires with lever backs. The loops allow the diamond drops to dangle and catch the light for a beautiful movement on the ear. And these are so easy to wear with the simple curved ear wire and the springy and tight lever backs holding them in place.
At the base of the ear wires above the diamonds is a little arrow pattern detail as an added design element.
One of the earrings is stamped 14k on one side with a maker's mark on the other side.
I'm not exactly sure how old they are but definitely antique although not extending back into the 1800s, rather from sometime in the early 1900s.
Antique box not included. Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds measure about 5.3mm give or take in their organic hand cut cushion cut forms with quite a depth to them. One measures just under .6 carat and the other is even deeper and measures a little over .7 carat. This is an estimate as I would not remove them from the setting but total carat weight is around 1.3 carat for the pair.
They measure about 22mm top to bottom from the top of the ear wire to the base of the earring. The prong settings holding the stones are 4.7mm deep.
This pair of earrings weighs 2.05 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Sturdy prongs in excellent condition. Still I never recommend 24/7 lying down on antique gold hinges as a general rule : )
Typical antique diamonds with faint natural inclusions only very slightly eye visible. No really large inky spots. One diamond has an indented natural inclusion which leaves a frosty crevice extending from the girdle. The other has a crystal pocket inclusion that can sometimes catch the light. Not eye visible to my eyes which are in their forties ; ) and not glaring with normal wear but you can seek them out with the zoom feature of the already zoomed photos to magnify them more than with normal wear. Better than most white color and lively fire for the period, even in ambient light. Love these!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
