ABOUT:

This one would make an awesome connector / pendant / pendant holder with the wonderful mix of old cut diamonds totaling around 1.4 carat in a unique geometric pattern. This sturdy, larger sized brooch is in glowing 18k rosy gold, topped with silver as was customary to set diamonds in a white metal. With eighteen stones, it really catches the light and provides an amazing sparkle.

At the center are two rectangular old mine cut diamonds - always fun to see old mine cuts in shapes other than cushion or round so these are special. They are set in open backs and stand out as bright white while flanked by additional old cut diamonds including a table cut, another oblong old mine cut and many rose cuts in closed back settings.

Note that it currently has no loops to hang from a chain, only the pin back, as I will leave it up to the buyer to work with their jeweler to determine how exactly they would want to style it. But if loops were added to the back on each side, it could be worn at center, as a pendant, or as an extender.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.

French hallmark for 18k gold on the pin post.

Antique Boxes, props, hooks, chains, mice : ) not included. I just used some staging chains to show examples of how to wear.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Weight is a sturdy 7.8g. 45x11mm

The larger diamonds are at least .3 carats each, around 4.7mm. The middle row of six larger diamonds each measure about 2.5mm, with the smallest ones along the outline about 2mm. I would never remove the stones from this old piece for exact measurements, and depths and cuts vary but loose estimate by mm is around 1.4 carat.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The largest stones are eye clean. The others have some faint frosty speck inclusions, very slightly eye visible. They display a warm to gray color from age to the foil backed setting giving the background stones a wonderful, moody sparkle.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
