I take regularly scheduled inventory trips to Europe and around the USA to find unique antique items to bring you! I recently completed two Spring trips (see my instagram to follow along! : ). Some additional examples of my typical inventory seen in the group photo - These pieces were all hand picked one at a time to assemble a collection that I hope you will enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

A gorgeous antique old mine cut engagement ring with two side stone accents. Nice and chunky cut, the center stone measures over .9 carat with the side stones totaling around half a carat. So we are over 1.4 carat of total diamond weight. The center diamond is prong set while the side stones are propped up and more flush mounted, held in by bead prongs into the raised shoulders of the ring.

Found in France, the piece is crafted in 18k rose gold. The hallmark at the back of the beautiful knife edge shank is worn and illegible (this piece was sized). But in France the standard is 18k and tested in several places to confirm. Typical French design with the raised shoulders and knife edge shank, it's lovely.

This piece is beautiful alone, makes a gorgeous stacker, could serve as a lovely engagement ring or a right hand ring, self gift, etc. Also making it special are the prongs being in good shape making this beauty ready for pretty regular wear, which we love to find in our antiques.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 6. It weighs 3.1 grams. Ring face is 5.5mm tall off the finger.

The center diamond is 6.8mm by 5.4 and a chunky cut measuring around 0.93 carat alone with the side stones about 3.7mm at their widest, cushion cuts totaling .5 carat. Total carat weight is a little over 1.4 carat. I would not remove them from the settings for exact measurements so this is an estimations but refer to the millimeter measurements for size and scale.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamonds. The center stone has a smattering of natural crystal inclusions including some warm carbon specks and one black carbon speck. These are eye visible if you are seeking them out as the crystal can catch the light. There is also an indented natural inclusion that is mostly polished over at one edge of a side facet. There are nibbles and nicks to three areas of the girdle edge of the stone, including one area that has some small flakes of loss to the girdle facet on one edge. This is also eye visible when studying the edge in a reflection but is seen mostly under magnification. The antique stone is of course hand cut so it is not perfectly symmetrical, which we love and expect to find in antique diamonds, having been hand cut long before the Four C's created for modern machine cut stones cut by the millions of carats each year. The side diamonds, one has a linear silk inclusion and the other crystal needle inclusions. In my opinion none of these things are glaring but I always highlight everything I see after studying the stone extensively under magnification, which can be translated to the four c's scale if desired.

The piece was sized at the back and has a different hue, more yellow gold as it appears they were unable to match the rosy antique patina. This is not glaring while wearing as it is seen only on the inside of the hand or when the ring is off the finger. It was professionally polished but still has a nice warm rosy patina. It does read as rose gold more than antique yellow gold.

The stones move ever so slightly when studied with a tool under magnification but the center diamond has secure prongs on all sides with plenty of length. The side stones are each set with 3 bead prongs which are typical and small for age, one on each shows a bit more wear so this is something you'd want to keep an eye on over time and to have checked should you wish to wear it daily. This is expected considering age and original condition of this piece, but could be reinforced for daily wear by your local jeweler if desired (you'd want to find someone with a laser welder and ask them to do the minimum possible vs. unnecessarily over working the piece to make it "like new" which can sometimes even muddy the settings). Most of my buyers prefer original condition and special occasion wear. Gorgeous glowing rose gold patina with a yellow glow from within the setting.

Rub marks and wear to the gallery as it appears to have been stacked with a band. This is worse on one side than the other where the edge of one of the side stones has some marks and shallow impressions leaving a rippled appearance - this is seen when you take the ring off and look at the ring from the side. It is not as evident while wearing the piece.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Very sweet piece from a very special era. I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
