ABOUT:
Beautiful old mine cut diamond solitaire ring that is slightly elongated / oval in it hand cut cushion cut glory. Timeless, classic and so lovely. This antique from the early 1900s has a nice chunky old mine cut measuring a little over .6 carat, propped in the prongs. Added glitter of single cut diamond accents at each shoulder brings the total carat weight to around .75 carat. The piece is crafted in 18k gold. Makes a sweet stacker.
Found in England, stamped 18CT inside for 18k gold.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale when it comes to the size of the stone. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/4, a little over. The diamond is about 5.2mm x 5mm with a nice chunky cut. I would not remove it from the setting but using estimates it is about .62 carat for the center, plus the four small single cuts.
The piece weighs 2.2g . It stands 5.3mm off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamond with a small smattering of tiny carbon and crystal inclusions in one area, sort of within the shape of a slice of pie covering 1/8th of the stone (if you envision dividing it into pie slices). This is very slightly eye visible because the specks are so small. The rest of the stone (7/8th's of it) appears eye clean. There is an indented natural inclusion to one area of the girdle but this is not seen by the yee. No damage to the stone but this one needs gentler wear as there is some wear to the prongs. Four of the prongs are good, but two are worn back. The stone is still well enough held but not recommended for all day daily wear. This could always be easily reinforced by a local jeweler, to have the two worn prongs "re-tipped" for daily wear but a lot of my buyers opt for special occasion wear. Two of the prongs are pointed and can be felt a bit blunt when running your finger across them. The four single cuts are all quite frosty overall but they are small and just add a little glint of sparkle.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
