ABOUT:
A timeless classic!
This antique necklace has the ever popular daisy cluster motif set with old mine cut diamonds. It has a yellow gold loop and jump ring but the chain is 18k white gold with French hallmarks, and can be worn with either color.
Versatile to dress up or down, the pendant is fixed in three parts, the cluster holding seven diamonds with one raised in prongs in the center. Above that is an additional diamond raised in prongs for extra sparkle.
The chain is older vintage Art Deco period, the pendant is older, my guess is it was converted from an earring perhaps? I got this one in Paris.
Chain in photos IS INCLUDED, please note the measurements.
MEASUREMENTS:
The pendant is 21x11mm not including the jump ring.
Stretched end to end it is 18.25 inches. It weighs 6.75 grams all together.
The diamond is about 3.6 to 4.3mm each. Varying shapes and depths and I would not remove them for exact measurements but estimates to over 2.1 carats total diamond weight.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The attached loop at the top is crooked, tee hee. Not sure how the person who converted it let this occur but once it's on the chain it hangs straight so there really isn't an issue with it aside from looking a little askew when you really study it. Much less noticeable while wearing. A worn prong here and there as expected for age but all the diamonds are held securely and do not move. The diamonds have a mix of warm to white hues, some of the outlining diamonds angle outward which affects how they reflect the light compared to the ones at center and top that face perfectly up. This is how it was made and they all sparkle. Two of the diamonds have a milkiness under magnification so those are the ones that appear whiter compared to the others with more warmth. Also typical for antique stones, they have some carbon specks and frosty spots, no really glaring inky spots but your normal natural inclusions to the stones that were cut in much more limited supply. Not really noticeable while wearing but more when you study the stones. One stone has some chips to the top edge outside the table from an inclusion carrying up to the surface but the stone still fills the setting and appears complete / round, no outside edge chips, just surface nibbles.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
